Enrique Morente
Enrique Morente Cotelo, known as Enrique Morente, (25 December 1942 – 13 December 2010) in the gypsy quarter of Granada in Andalucia, southern Spain.

Enrique Morente Passed away in a madrid hospital Monday 13th of December 2010 where he had been in coma following an operation for an ulcer.
Criticised by some of his peers for introduicng other genres of music to Flamenco and working to mondernise flamenco music whilst still keeping true to it’s traditions in doing so Enrique offended many purists but in reality he opened the doors to the world of Flamenco music to many who would never have ventured in.
A career spanning four decades and 20 albums, according to his official web site.
The first, “Cante Flamenco”, was released in 1967.
Culture Minister Angeles Gonzalez-Sinde said he “opened different public to flamenco like no one else and was very knowledgeable about our poetry, both the classics as well as the contemporary poetry.”
