Latino Music UK broadening the horizon of Latin Music and Latin American Culture to London and the UK Public.

The Latino Music UK website is run by myself, Alejandro Gatica and the aim is to showcase all the Latino Events that happen in and around UK with particular focus on London. The main objective is to promote Latino music but we will also highlight Latino Dance, exhibitions, art shows, films etc.. we will give reviews where we can. We also want to have a social conscience as too many people and sites ignore any political points of view and are quite happy to live their life with political ignorance under the pretence of “It’s Busniess”, which is a sad cop out when you consider how revolutionary music can and indeed has been. Bands and artist’s like Victor Jara, Mercedes Sosa, Inti Illimani, Quilapayun, Ruben Blades and more recently people like Nano Stern and Calle 13 to name but a few, all sang about social injustice’s of their time. It’s not only Latin Americans there are also people like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan Ritchie Havens etc…..The list is endless. Music and Dance over the years has broken boundries and highlighted the plights of those who have suffered or for example Pinochet the ex Dictator of Chile tried to claim the Cueca as his own tool for propaganda and in Brasil the slaves danced the Capoeira to Music but in actual fact it was to disguise the fact that they were actually learning a martial art. For all of the above reason’s that have been given we choose not to have any advertising on the site as we feel that we can do as we please with out a corporate paymaster telling us what we can or can not do, therefore compromising what we can do or say. We do however try to make money by affiliating our selves to certain sites like GetMeIn, TicketMaster, TicketWeb, Amazon, iTunes, Mexican Hammock Company, Viagogo, SeatWave, Lonely Planet, Virgin Atlantic and British Airways. By choosing to buy something through our links you will go a long way in helping to support this website at no further cost to you, and by doing you so will be helping keep Latino Music UK free from the intrusive advertising which so many blogs and website’s have nowadays.
Who We are

Owner of Latino Music UK | Born in the UK to Chilean and Argentine Parents who were both exiled from the dictatorships of both Argentina and Chile. Guitar Player, Chef at Soul Cause Bar, DJ (a Selector of phat Latin choons more than a DJ extrodinaire) was part of ClubBrasil.com parties back in the day and chefed at Los Andes Restaurant in Dalston. Latino Music whether it be Salsa, Cumbia, Tango, Flamenco etc… has always been a big part of my life, so why not share the knowledge and spread the word that Latino Music is so much more than just Salsa, just as Argentina is more than Just Tango.
